台塑海运股份有限公司是台湾台塑集团下属公司，现有船舶吨位400万吨，公司成立于1980年3月，注册登记为赖比利亚(liberia)籍，历经20余年之努力，由最初2艘3万吨级化学船，扩增至目前10艘化学船及1艘15万吨级散装船，6艘1.2万吨级全新集装箱船。兹将本公司设立之动机、目前营运业务及管理政策介绍如后：
一、设立动机：
1975年起，本企业自美国开始运回大量edc作为生产氯乙烯的原料，为避免让外国船东趁机哄抬运费，确保产品竞争优势及保障交运船期，于1978年起进行规划建造三万吨级液体化学槽船，于1979年12月与日本钢管株式会社签订造船合约，第一艘船命名为「台塑壹号轮」(m.v. formosa one)，于1981年4月30日交船营运，自此担负起本企业海上运输任重道远使命。2005年10月16日全货柜轮「台塑货柜壹号」(m.v. formosa container no.1)首航宁波标志着台塑拥有自己的集装箱运输船队。
二、目前营运业务
目前有10艘3万吨级化学船，台塑壹号轮自台塑拾壹号轮(其中台塑参号轮已出售)，均注册登记为赖比利亚籍，船级属美国验船协会(abs class)，主要航驶于远东区至加拿大及美国休斯敦区承运edc、甲醇、meg、an、sm等化学原料，回远东港口卸货，年承运量约160万吨。另配合六轻麦寮发电厂煤碳需要，于1999年增购1艘15万吨级海岬型(cape size)散装轮，台塑星辉轮，注册登记为巴拿马籍，主要航驶于麦寮至澳洲new castle承运煤碳回麦寮港卸货，年承运量约116万吨。从2005年10月起6艘全货柜轮主要航行于华南与台湾航线。其中香港至以台湾航线12月8日首航，现为每周三班到基隆和高雄， 一班到台中，随后增加至每周四班。 现在为每周两班, 一.四头程, 二.五大船..
三、管理政策
本公司经营海上运输业，为提高服务品质，确保航行安全，于1998年通过国际安全管理(international safety management – ism)验证，并取得iso 9002证书。「适时适地提供可靠高水平服务，无远弗届确保安全无污染航行」做为本公司品质/ism政策，以期达到无污染、无延迟、无赔偿、无事故、无损害。
